SPDSS (St. Paul & District STEAM Society) was incorporated as a non-profit organization on November 15, 2022, under Government of Alberta Societies Act to provide a boost in science activities within the Lakeland region and foster a culture of joint problem solving, inclusivity and sharing of knowledge through Science & Technology.
In the last few months, we have conducted 18 successful sessions for Minecraft for Education enrolling more than 40 students and a program running for more six weeks empowering students with the concepts of sustainability through Minecraft for Education.
SPDSS partnered with school boards SPERD and Centre-Est and launched the first ever St Paul Inter-district Science Fair in December 2022. Students from school boards and homeschooling were all welcome. Two major school boards have officially partnered with us, and more than 60 students registered from various schools and homeschool divisions.
