Overview
Technology Alberta’s vision is to foster the Alberta tech sector by building community and uniting innovators. One of these innovators is Red Deer Polytechnic: they offer their students experiential learning with technology integration and applied research opportunities within their innovative facilities. In fact, they are one of Canada’s Top 50 Research Colleges and Polytechnics as they are continuously seeking collaboration with various industries to address real-world challenges.
Technology Alberta was invited and sponsored by Red Deer Polytechnic (“RDP) and Scotiabank to deliver an expert panel on AI in the Alberta Workplace at the RDP’s Career Fair and Conference. RDP wanted to enhance their students’ knowledge on topic of AI. The panel consisted of ASTech Award Winner and entrepreneurial University student, Connor Povoledo, seasoned executive with a PhD, Dr. Isha Katyal and a long-time tech entrepreneur, Ahmad Jawad.
After the riveting panel discussion, the students flocked to the panelists with exciting questions and insights.

Isha Katyal
PhD, Chief Knowledge Officer – Technology Alberta, Owner of ClicknPush
Isha is a seasoned executive with a background in computational biology and machine learning for business. Her company, ClicknPush Accessibility, is using advance technology and AI to enable users to engage with their community without fear of difficult terrain with a wearable device.
Panel Role: knowledge of pilot AI Pathways program – a laddered micro-credential pan-Alberta program across Alberta Post-secondaries.
Ahmad Jawad
Founder of Intellimedia
Ahmad is an established member of the Alberta business community, having founded and expanded Intellimedia into a thriving Edmonton based Ed Tech company. Since founding Intellimedia in 2006, he has led the development of several high-value solutions utilized by School Districts across Alberta.
Connor Povoledo
Co-Founder of Wound³ and Level 7 Plastics, 2023 ASTech Award Winner, U of A engineering student
While in his last year as an engineering student at the University of Alberta, Connor’s entrepreneurial interests is as co-founder of both Wound3 and Level 7 Plastics. As president and lead back-end developer for Wound³, he oversees AI and analytics developments, while also responsible for creating collaboration opportunities with clinics and other businesses in the chronic wound space. For Level 7 Plastics, a University of Alberta-based plastics recycling and upscaling facility, Connor is mainly responsible for the overall strategic plan.
