Rainforest Connector: Social and Technical Innovation – Construction

Innovative construction technologies improve safety, efficiency, and productivity. What does construction innovation mean for Alberta? Have you ever thought of 3-D printed houses or uncrewed robots that work in construction sites? While these developments enhance automation and lower human risk; there are alternative business models that can benefit society and its employees. This session will explore the innovative approaches of construction companies on technology, automatization, and management.

Dr. Irina Garces (Co-host) is a specialist in smart materials and devices, nano and macro material composites, biomaterials, novel techniques of manufacturing – and has been involved with start-up tech companies, and is always interested in collaboration opportunities [email protected].

Gail Powley (Session Chair) an avid volunteer in the innovation community, is President of Technology Alberta, and as a Chemical Engineer and then later manager – has worked for industry, government, and academia – and for companies of all sizes including: Procter & Gamble, Aspen Technology, Matrikon (Honeywell), and Willowglen Systems.

 

What is the Connector?

Rainforest Alberta – Connector is an informal get-together for Edmonton entrepreneurs at all stages (from ideation to exiting), small business owners, and ecosystem helpers looking to encourage and promote collisions between people and create connections that will help drive the success of entrepreneurs in Alberta’s innovation system.

Join us to meet new like-minded people, celebrate successes and learn from failures, and build a community that supports and promotes entrepreneurship across the Province.

Events will be hosted online via Zoom and a password is required to access the meetings, therefore registration is mandatory.
