Webinar |Problem-Solving and Creativity in Engineering and Geoscience Practice

February 1, 2022 @ 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM

This webinar provides an introduction to problem solving and creativity in engineering and geoscience through real examples. The topics include problem definition and idea generation techniques. To be creative in the engineering and geoscience professions and combine it with problem solving skills, one doesn’t need to possess any hereditary quality. Creativity is a skill that can be learned, expanded, and applied to daily tasks at both professional and personal levels. Throughout years of experience, engineers and geoscientists develop problem solving aptitudes of their own. However, this process can be greatly enhanced by learning creative problem-solving techniques. This gives a new dimension to the subject of gaining experience and training in engineering and geoscience.

This webinar is intended as a preview to a short course on the same subject that will be offered in June 2022. The session provides a systematic framework for improving problem solving skills and creativity. It attempts to sharpen problem-solving skills of participants and helps them reach a higher level of talent to efficiently handle problems in engineering and geoscience projects.

The session is intended for new and experienced engineers, geoscientists, technicians, managers, and anybody who wants to attain a new horizon in expanding their cognitive abilities.

Learning objectives:

Identify an ill-defined problem and proceed to a correct problem definition
Recognize mental blocks to creativity and solution generation
